It may involve meeting your architect or contractor early in the day so that measurements can be recorded and appropriate decisions made.

Housing associations. Ultrasonic testing is a quick and precise way to seek out heating systems that are failing. Many houses can be checked in a single day.

Scalding fatalities. Inadequate hot water cylinder vent pipes and poorly supported plastic cisterns should also be sought out and corrected.  Such faults have caused scalding fatalities.

I rarely see radiators that need replacing.

Excessive ongoing radiator corrosion won't occur in a system correctly installed.

This steel was originally 1.12mm thick.
It has corroded down to an overall thickness of 0.98mm. The oxide sludge caused the middle / bottom areas of all radiators to remain cool.

If other radiators produce similar results and no pitting corrosion is evident they may all be cleaned and returned to service. Provided the causes of corrosion are addressed.

Clean or powerflush with confidence.

Causes external radiator corrosion.

Observation is still important

The weeping vent that corrodes steel externally is obvious but not so if it is hidden by a shelf or cabinet.

It could still bring the ceilings ceilings down during the holidays.

The parallel thread that has leaked in the past may now allow ingress of air since a larger pump was fitted.
